Arrowe Park

A FRIENDS GROUP NOW FORMED

The huge parkland area forms a significant section of Wirral's Greenbelt preventing amalgamation of four townships

A newly formed 'FRIENDS OF ARROWE COUNTRY PARK', held a very well attended and successful meeting, on Wednesday 7th February 2007, at the Arrowe Park Hotel. The meeting was attended by somewhere in the region of 80 - 90 persons. Membership is coming in well.

The next meeting will be held on 7th March, at the same venue, from 7 p.m. when we will view the short film, produced by Angus Tilston, (unfortunately unable to be shown at that meeting), and adopting our constitution, as well as having a more extended 'Question Time'.

Broadly speaking, the aims of the 'FRIENDS' will be:

To conserve and protect the park from further Country Park identity loss; habitat destruction and erosion.

To actively protect and contribute to maintaining, sites of traditional wildlife occupation. (Some hands on activities, for those interested, it is envisaged, when insurance in place).

To arrest further neglect of Arrowe Country Park , by fund-raising and influencing management of resources and assets, including review of current provision.

To promote and encourage increased  use of the park, across all interest groups and age ranges, by development and protection of facilities, and by staged events.

To prevent further loss of, and protect, and conserve, traditional park boundaries.

To restore existing assets of Arrowe Country Park , and collate records of both Social and Natural History.

To enjoy ourselves doing so and of course, to be 'friendly'!

Field Voles are one of the many aspects of wildlife who occupy the Park
