Friday 4th December 2009 - After ITPAS had purchased the Christmas lights and after much planning between ITPAS, Irby Village Hall, The Shippons, The Shippons Motorcycle Club and Irby Primary school Governors finally got our just rewards with a fantastic night in the village. An estimated 1800 people gathered in the village to listen to the school children singing Christmas songs, whilst Maluca served a BBQ etc and others including Irby Evangelical Church provided hot drinks and mince pies.
The Heswall Police stopped the traffic to allow Santa and his helpers to parade through the village on their motorbikes where they pulled into the lay-by to allow children to sit on the bikes. Afterwards everyone moved on to The Shippons who had prepared a hog roast and people could have more photo opportunity's. This was a great Community event and whilst it was the first in many years, we have learned lots to prepare for next years event. In the meantime, you can see what a fun time was had by both children and adults in the photo's that were taken below.
