Land Registry

NEW  INITIATIVES  TO  ENCOURAGE  PEOPLE  IN WIRRAL TO  REGISTER  THEIR  LAND

The Land Registry is a Government department responsible for maintaining a land register for England and Wales .  It was established way back in 1862 to oversee the registering of land to its rightful owners. The registering of land in the UK became compulsory in 1990.

However, an amazing 57% of the land in Wirral is not registered. That's an amazing 14,600 hectares! This means that it is not as safe as it could be.

An amazing 57% of land in Wirral is not registered! This Ariel view of our part of The Wirral shows just how much open land there is, let alone small private sections of land that remain unregistered.

Land that is registered to the owner is secure and cannot be encroached upon. It also makes the buying and selling of land a far easier and safer proposition.

The Land Registry has been encouraging local Wirral folk to register their land and to that end, those who volunteer to register under the current system will receive a 25% reduction in the registration fee.  It is a reasonably straightforward process which will take two or three days and then you will have the certainty and security about the land that you own.

Below we have some useful links to websites that can offer more information and even allow you to make an online enquiry between 7 am and 12 midnight, Monday to Saturday (excluding bank holidays).
